Combine Harvester Sprocket

Power distribution & transmission Splined bore mounts directly on harvester splined drive shaft. It delivers engine torque to roller chains, driving header reel, crop feeder, threshing drum, grain elevator and unloading auger for full reaping‑threshing‑cleaning workflow. Splined connection transmits heavy torque better than ordinary key‑way bore and resists slipping.

Drive material conveying & grain elevating It powers elevator and feed chains to deliver crop into threshing chamber and lift grains to grain tank. Sprocket tooth number changes operating speed to suit wheat, rice or corn harvesting conditions.

Absorb field shock loads It buffers sudden impact caused by soil, stone and straw tangling during field harvesting and keeps synchronized operation of working assemblies.

Transmission‑ratio adjustment Works as driving or driven sprocket to change speed ratio. It matches harvester travel speed with working‑unit speed and reduces material blockage.

Assembly intermittent or no movement, power idling Symptom: Engine runs normally, but header / grain elevator does not work; chain spins without load. Cause: Worn rounded‑off spline bore; heavily worn sprocket teeth leading to chain slipping. Check: Stop power, remove guard. If drive shaft rotates while sprocket stays static, spline teeth are damaged.

Periodic knocking & impact noise Symptom: Regular clanking noise; noise frequency rises with rotating speed. Cause: Broken/missing teeth; excessive tooth‑face wear; sprocket hub eccentricity. Check: Visually inspect for cracked or broken teeth; check radial run‑out while rotating sprocket.

Frequent chain jumping‑off Symptom: Roller chain keeps jumping out during harvesting. Cause: Sharply worn tooth profile; sprocket deformation; loose spline fit causing wobble. Check: Compare with new sprocket; worn teeth become thin and sharp; observe obvious radial wobble.

Overheated sprocket hub Symptom: Hub gets abnormally hot after short‑time operation. Cause: Excessive spline clearance with friction‑caused slipping; misalignment between sprocket and chain.

Visual inspection checklist ‑ Spline inner teeth: indentation, spalling, rounding‑wear ‑ Outer teeth: crack, chipped/broken teeth, sharp worn tooth tips ‑ Hub: crack and deformation ‑ Looseness: check excessive play between sprocket and shaft by hand.

Warning: Do NOT keep operating with damaged spline or broken teeth. It will further damage chain and drive shaft and cause unexpected field breakdown.
